Currently I have 2Gb Crucial Ballistix PC6400 running at 800Mhz stock, Should I add another 2Gb in 2 x 1Gb sticks or would I be better selling and getting some 2 x 2Gb sticks?

Also should I make sure I get the exact same Crucial 6400 or would 5300 work ok?

Set up is

Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz (400x9)
Gigabyte P35 DS3 Rev 1.0
2 x 1Gb Crucial Ballistix
Corsair 520
Asus 8800GTS 512

Thanks

There seems to be plenty of PC5300 on MM at the min, might go for some of that. Will probably all be gone by time I get back.

Thanks

Whats MM ? gonna buy 2x2gb sticks meself as I have 4x1 but 2 different types and it wont work.

if you have a 32bit operating system then it won't reconise any more than 3.5gb. if you are not planning on upgrading to 64bit then just get the other 2x1gb sticks. if you are on 64bit then you still might want to save a bit of money for when ddr3 comes down in price, instad of getting an extra bit of ram that won't be used.

I had 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300 and added another pair of the same which went straight in with no problems.

The PC5300 should be able to handle your 400MHz speed no problems. Mine run at 450MHz.
