Best way to host open source projects?

As in title really. I'm looking to open source a couple of small projects i've developed. The two that seem to get mentioned the most are git hub and google code but I have no experience of either. So what would you recommend? I assume both will let others contribute directly? Cheers

github is great, they have a tutorial on getting git setup and the adding your own code back to github. The social aspect is really nice if your project takes off.

Github - it's an excellent site and you'll likely get much more exposure if it's on there.

I use https://launchpad.net/
It has a lot more features than github, such as bug tracking, blueprints, translations, question+answer section and much more. Its free too!

Another vote for github as its bloody brilliant. After using subversion, git and github are mana from heaven. Also allows me to deploy to servers really easily.
