Sorry for such a stupid question, but do so infrequently - brain has not recalled best way about this.

Am going to use newest Nvidia drivers, should I just download and install or current ones?.

or

Go through process of removing old, driver sweeper, safe mode ?, installing new. Any pointers to detailed sequence of doing this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

Personally i just install over the top of the old driver, during installation, select custom and perform a clean install. Has never caused any issues.

Hmm - 2 school of thoughts here - either straight over or from forum long way. Will decide....

Guess it will be in link, if i go driver sweeper to i have to remove all of following:
"NVIDIA - Chipset"
"NVIDIA - Display"
"NVIDIA - PhysX"

This is what I do.

Same goes for ATI/AMD drivers. I only do a remove & clean if I run into problems, I very rarely get them nowadays with drivers it seems.

I don't mess around with BETA drivers though.

I've always held out from updating nvidia card drivers because i've read 'horror stories' when people encounter problems installing them. I'm still on 275.33 because of that fear and i wouldnt be able to get myself out of a problem if it all went wrong.

I'm also using sli and I have no idea if that makes it more complicated or not updating drivers? must say i'm a bit surprised people saying they just install over the top of existing drivers, i always thought that was a no no but it seems to be an ok thing to do?

WOW just WOW dude are you for real?

Theres no need to fear you MUST update 90% of the time as it fixes a lot of problems and gives huge performance gains.

Well of course i know that updates fixes problems and provides performance gains but i've never really needed to as i dont have any problems that need fixing. Now if I encountered a problem when updating then I certainly would have a problem here...

Why wouldnt i be for real? I've had radeon cards before but have no experience updating an nvidia card. If things go wrong the only person who could help me is my bro but even thats an ask as he's not quite so receptive to helping people out ;) i guess i can count on you if i update and have any trouble?

Count on everyone here :D

Nvidia is very good with drivers imo much more simple compare to AMD, but AMD is getting better these days and so are the drivers!

cool stuff

how do you update your drivers if i may ask? is the simplist and most efficient way without creating any problems to install over the existing drivers by selecting 'custom and perform a clean install'? would there be any problems jumping from old 275.33 drivers to the latest?

Narn "keeping it real"

Im going home to bed soon so will message back tomoz if you have any problems, but this is what i do.

1. DL the latest drivers from the Nvidia website.
2. Install over top of old ones.
3. Be happy and play games :D

Some people go mental and clean registrys and stuff but theres really no need at this day and age.

over the top.
untick 3D, HDMI and nvidia update.
nowadays you sometimes dont get asked to restart unless you overclock.

Narn just do as you said, if you get into trouble as has been said everyone will help you.

ok so i finally updated those ancient drivers and it all went well. thanks guys couldnt have done it without yous
