going to build my file server tonight and so far have 1 * 1.5TB HDD.

Should I partition the drive to say 30GB for the OS so that I can do reinstalls at a later date ?

Thanks !

i haven't used WHS since the beta so things might have changed but IIRC you don't get a choice. it creates a small partition for the OS by itself during setup. it does warn you that it will hose everything on the drive.

Yep, as mentioned - you don'y get a choice.

It creates a 20Gb partition for the operating system and the rest is for storage.

Works a treat though. :)

Yep, if you need to reinstall - boot from the CD and the installation gives the option to reinstall or clean install.

Choosing reinstall rebuilds the operating system keeping data intact (not done this myself though).

As above - you might also want to check you have W2K3 drives for your network card and any RAID controllers handy. Good thing is that you can install them from a USB stick during setup - no floppy required :)
