Best way to pay for an expensive car.

take it for a test drive and never return it = free ;)

Have 40-60k in the bank going spare.
That is clearly one of the options I listed.

It does seem that the shift has come to pay outright or if an extra bit of security is wanted and a lower cost then leaving the money in a high interest account and getting as low a loan rate as possible is the other option.

OP grab the unofficial AT google chrome extension and you can see historical prices and how long the car has been listed for. If a car has been sitting since before even October absolutely hammer them for a huge discount.
Ty for this I have grabbed it and will not be in any kind of rush. Like I mentioned this is a bit of a whim, lets see if I can resist or do something silly.

Did you buy something yet?

Even though my GR86 is not a premium car I put 17k down with a 16.5k unsecured personal loan. Not the best rates at the time due to everything being messed up but was 6.4% for a 5 year loan. Just paid off the rest of the balance last month.

For me it was a bit of a whim too and have never bought a car brand new.

In terms of residuals I have lost about 5k over 2 years which is fantastic for a brand new car or £208 a month to drive around in a GR86 that I own outright :).

Bank loan at a % less than what you can get with money in investments. Otherwise, just use the cash.
This is how I pad for mine. PCP is lol% these days and Lease/HP has always been ridiculously expensive comparatively, aside from the odd VAG deal which used to pop up, but they've not happened in 5+ years.

One view, if you consider it expensive, then you’re suffering from cognitive dissonance even before buying.

Just buy something cheaper.
