Best way to play older games?

Hi guys,

I want to have some fun with older games, such as Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Nitemare, System Shock etc...

Whats the best way to go about it? VM with Windows 98se (or similar) or emulator/rom combination?

So in a nut shell there is no best way, just the most suitable way depending on the game?

If it's a DOS game then Boxer for osx works fine so thats those covered. The rest I'll VM or emulate. Duke Nukem 3D is being installed and same for worms Armageddon. Can't wait!
