Hey guys, whats the best way for me to do this? Hoping to be able to record in 1080p through HDMI with sound if possible.

Cheers :)

I have not done this myself as i found it to be too expensive for me, but from what i found you would need a pci card similar to BlackMagic Intensity Pro HDMI Capture Card. These type of card will probably set you back about £100.

There may be other ways to get 1080p, but the reason i wanted hdmi was not just for 1080p, but because i play my consoles on a pc monitor so cant use a component cable as i have no tv to plug into :P although i did try component/composite (not sure which one lol) to vga, but turns out that doesnt work without a converter box /facepalm.

Or Black Magic Intensity pro (PCI) or shuttle (USB 3)

Both about £150

The latter is fairly computer dependant. I.e. it has to be good.

Hence I use a Hapaugge HD PVR! Except rendering is sloooow and i want to upgrade!

oh thats a point. You may find problems using the HDMI to record PS3 as it's all hdcp encoded therefore you also need a hdmi stripper work around.

On xbox i find no difference between component HD and HDMI tbh. So maybe just ditch the hdmi if the work around seems a prob?
