Best way to reinstall windows 10 on a new pc

So i have a legit copy of windows 10 on my pc. Its going to be dismantled later with only a few bits being carried over. the old pc will not be used anymore.

How do i go about installing and activating windows 10 on my new pc.

Was Windows 10 an upgrade or a retail/OEM key?

it was the free upgrade from a retail windows 8 / 8.1 key

It depends on what bits are kept, check the Microsoft Win 10 site for details of re using a Win 10 license. It gets complicated but if they (M$) decide you've built a new PC it won't accept the key.

Install with latest ISO (Download the tool from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10) and use your Windows 8 retail key in the install. It should activate just fine. Job done.

Either a clean install from a CD/USB using the latest ISO or Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Keep nothing.
