Hey all,

Just a quick one...

I'm potentially emigrating in the next few months I will be leaving my iMac at home and taking my MacBook with me.

What do you think would be the best solution to remote access my iMac?

I was thinking of setting up a VPN service of sorts so I could just connect to my own VPN from wherever then use the OSX built in Share desktop feature?

Thoughts? :)

TIA,
Jake

Have to pay for that don't you?

Haven't used it for a few years but I'm sure I didn't pay for it when I used it, you may have to pay now though.

But you'll need to have the computer remotely turned on to use that, however I'm not sure if that's viable on VPN either.

My machine is turned on all the time anyway so thats not an issue really...hmm will need to do some testing I think.

LogMeIn free is free it's the pro version you have to pay for, depends if you need the pro version features or not.

I've been using logmein free for years, does the job perfectly and no need for port forwarding or digging amongst the gubbins of your computer :)

Nice peige I'll check it out. Can you set it so say if your machine rebooted automatically due to software updates and it sat on the logon screen it would start the agent so you could still login to it? :)

I'm pretty certain that works on windows so can't see why it would be any different for mac

Yes, it does automatically restart the agent on Mac. I use this to access my work desktop from home.

Splashtop is much faster though - fast enough to stream movies from your imac over the internet in reasonable quality.

Cool thanks.

Hmm not heard of Splashtop, shall have to check it out, thanks for the recommendation :)

EDIT: This Splashtop looks the biz...does it open again before login to you know?
