Best way to remove CPU from fan?

Ive been looking at a friends computer and ive noticed that the CPU is stuck to the fan. Whats the best way to remove it as i want to check the core for damage.

It's best when removing the HSF that you angle it out instead of pulling it straight. Also it mean you most likely using too much thermal paste. It's only meant to fill the gaps between the HSF and the CPU.

The PC in question is from a large pc supplier and its pretty well stuck on. Im gonna try a hair dryer on it later.
