best way to remove drivers

is it important to remove old drivers before installing new drivers,

i have catalyst 5.13.. and about to install 6.1... should i use drivercleaner to remove the old drivers first?
 
not sure, but its something i always do as a matter of course, for the sake of 5 mins i think its worth it, i like to know ive simply got 6.1 and not a mixture of 2 sets
ps i assume drivercleaner works for nvidia drivers, someone using nvidia card maybe better to answer, sorry didnt read your post properly !!
