Best way to resize large images

Hi,

Could someone recommend me a way of resizing an image (e.g. by %) I would use photoshop but my trial expired. I done a google search but i would prefer a downloadable app. Picasa doesn't seem to do it either.

paint.net if you prefer the photoshop style layout.
Gimp is ultimately more powerful though

convert inputimage.jpg -resize 50% outputimage.jpg

simples..

I recommend Paint.net

GIMP is a nightmare to use.
