Hi there.

IThis week i purchased a new graphics card for my system. I had previously been using a dual monitor setup, in which both monitors had vga outputs. My new graphics card however, only allows DVI (which is fine as i have an adapter), DVI-D and mini HDMI.

I have been trying to find the best way to resolve this but have found no clear cut answer. The adapters for DVI-D to VGA seem to be dodgy/badly reviewed and Maplin told me i need to spent £50 on a converter box.

The fact that i don't need to convert and audio signal to analogue, just the video suggests to me that i don't need to spent that kind of money on a converter box.

Can anyone suggest the cheapest most effetive way to get my dual screen up and running again?

Many thanks in advance!!

What graphics card?

If you need to do DVI-D to VGA then you will need an expensive converter. The above cable only works with DVI-I to VGA and is no different to using the DVI->VGA adapter. You'd be better off buying a new monitor for the price of those converters imo. They can also be hit and miss on the supported resolutions.
