Best way to rip DVD's to my PC?

Hello,
I want to rip my Family Guy DVDs to my computer as I find it easier playing it digitally rather than using disks. What's the easiest way to do this? I was thinking along the lines of using Handbrake, but I'm not sure what the best settings are.

Freemake is worth a look also.

MakeMKV for full rips. Best way to do it if you have the storage available.

I used DVDShrink to rip all mine to a .ISO file, this was for movies.
XMBC then mounts them automatically for me as soon as I click play.

As above though for TV shows I'd use Make MKV

DVD Decrypter. No need to compress if you have plenty of HDD space.

Blurays? You'd have to have quite a bit of space...

Re-encoded mp4 would be my suggestion.

DVDFab to rip the DVD and then use Handbrake to convert to smaller mkv file

Yeah I've already used DVDFab to rip the DVD. Is mkv better than mp4?

mkv is only a container. mp4 usually has better compatibility.
