Best way to run OS X on my Win 7 Desktop

There's a couple of apps I like to use on OS X, however I only have a Mac Laptop and prefer to use my desktop 90% of the time when I'm at home.

Can anyone recommend the best way to setup OS X on a virtual machine?

Primarily I want to use this to run an app I bought through the app store and save the files to dropbox.

Can anyone confirm that I'll be able to run apps I've purchased through the app store on the VM and if it should be able to connect to my network and therefore sync all my DB docs before I try to set this all up?

The mods won't allow this discussion as the Apple EULA states that Mac OS X cannot be run in any way, shape or form on non-Apple hardware, including virtualisation (hence why Hackintosh talk isn't allowed either). However, there are guides out there for doing what you want with Virtualbox. Won't go into any more detail here.

You can VM OS X in OS X, or Windows in OS X but you can't legitimately VM OS X in a Windows VM.

What about connecting remotely to your Mac? You'd in effect be sat at your desktop, using that monitor and kb/mouse?

I appreciate that isn't running the OS in a VM, buts it's probably an awful lot less hassle!

I wanted to run it in a VM so that it ran quickly on my powerful desktop, plus I could have it in a windowed mode so I can drag the program across screens, plus it means I wouldn't need the laptop on the desk and I could control it all using my desktop PC and mouse.

If I connect it to my monitor I need to leave the laptop on the desk to use it's trackpad and keyboard or connect an additional one.

I gave remote connection a try with TeamViewer, seemed a bit laggy, but it's usable for the time being

Does that work controlling a Mac from a PC though? I'm not at my desktop at the moment, but it seems I need the streamer on my mac (which can be installed on a PC or Mac) - but the app itself (which I guess is used to remote control the streaming device) is only available for OSX, iPhone, iPad and Android devices, not a PC?

Should be able to. I've used for PC to PC connections. Splashtop changed their site around so I can't find the one for the PC...

I can say good things about TeamViewer. Might be a little laggy but it is free and works across all platforms.

I might give that a shot when I'm back at my desktop, as that can control over the local area network as opposed to transmitting the data off to a server on the net and back again like TeamViewer can't it? Hopefully that should be a bit quicker.
