Hi,

Like many people who have what they think are good ideas I have registered a number of domain names for projects that have not amounted to anything or for which I have found alternative domains that I like better.

Rather than keep these domains and renew for very little point, has anyone had any experience with selling them off to hopefully recoup the initial cost if not a little bit more.

To be clear, these are not domains that, to my knowledge, have any linking with other companies and they were not bought with the purpose of selling on for a profit, just projects that I didn't pursue in the end.

I am not a fan of domain parking and chucking adverts on them as 9 out of 10 website names I searched for were just advert websites and parked rather than belonging to any actual company or business (looking at .coms). I am all for getting the domains back in the pool available for others to have a chance with but would at least like to cover my costs rather than just having to write them off totally.

Thanks
RB

If they don't appear to be worth anything and you aren't a fan of domain parking then just put up a note on the site saying you no longer use the domain and if someone wants it they can have it. Simples. No effort involved.

Well the GoDaddy values them at prices more than the initial registration and in a few cases, a fair bit higher although not quite in the 4 digit range.

As mentioned, it would be good to get at least my initial money back off them but a reasonable amount would make a pretty big addition to my funds right now.
