My friend and I have just got Diablo 2 and want to play a local game together but when connecting to his IP address, or him connecting to mine, it just times out.

I'm not sure if it will only accept local address like 192.168 ? Anyone give me a hand? :)

Thanks

Assume you're hosting the game. In which case find your PC's local IP address (Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig) and configure your router to forward TCP ports 6112 and 4000 to that IP, then configure any software firewalls to allow traffic on those ports, for instance add exceptions in Windows Firewall (or just turn it off). Once you've got Diablo 2 up and running and ready to accept connections your friend will need to connect to your external IP address.

That's the basic gist of it. If you need more specific info you'll need to be more specific about your setup, for instance the make and model of your router and what firewall/security software you're running.

Hamachi ( the pirates friend )

Edit: Iam running an older verson 1.0.1.5 ( HamachiSetup-1.0.1.5-en.exe )

Due to later version not working with some games properly ( just again proving newer != better )
