I've currently got XP on one hard drive with all my stuff on it.

I've got Vista 64 and a new hard drive waiting to be installed. I want to have vista on the new hard drive and have a partition with just vista on one half and all my programs on the other. Also hoping to set up a dual boot with vista and xp. Once I get Vista up and running I'd like to take my music, games, etc and transfer them onto the new hard drive before reformatting the old one.

A little unsure of what to do regarding the dual boot/partitioning lark so any advice is much appreciated.

:)

Install new HDD
Use a tool to partition new HDD
If you want to make a clean install of everything, backup your stuff and format all drives, then install XP onto the old drive.
Then install Vista onto new drive. It will pick up XP and ammend the boot loader accordingly.
Done.

Im just about to do the same thing, just ordered another hdd and have vista here ready to go in. Should i install the new hard drive first with xp, then start pc with vista disk in and select new hard drive?

Been trying to do this over the past 2 days and had big problems. I'm hoping to get it sorted tonight. How are you guys getting on?
