Im going to purchase a pair of Yamaha HS5 studio monitors for use on PC and playback on guitar using my PODxt Live.

I was wondering what the most sensible setup would be for achieving this.

Would I just connect mono cables from speakers to back of PODxt Live and connect USB to PC and use the POD as a audio driver or interface similar to the way a Scarlett 2i2 works?

So you'd do jack from left/ mono and right to the jacks on the yamaha.

USB from a quick Google seems to work as a sound card, seems to be a lot of posts about sound latency though so keep an eye on that.

Yeah had KRKs before but the Yamahas get a good write up. It would be that set up and if I didn't use USB then I could just get a twin jack mono to single 3.5mm jack and plug straight into back of PC. But I assume using the Pod will be better as it should have better soundcard than motherboard?

In terms of playing PC audio through them whilst playing guitar can it handle that safely? Or should I have one speaker on guitar and one on music backing?

Sorry to bring this topic up again but is it safe with my current setup to have pc sound and guitar sound coming through the speakers at the same time?

I was also looking to get some sort of control panel to make it easier to adjust volume etc but Scarlett 2i2 seems a bit expensive for just that function.

Yep. No problem playing multiple sources through a set of speakers simultaneously.

When you say about adjusting the volume, I assume you are referring to the speaker volume?

Something like the Scarlett is no good, as that is a separate device entirely. Essentially, by using that, it would replace the pod xt. You'd need something with analogue in and variable outputs. I can only think of a headphone amp that has line in and variable line out, even if you don't actually use it as a headphone amp. Schiit Magni 3 should do the job. Has analogue line and and variable output that will adjust the volume of connected powered speakers. Not easy to get hold of though, unless you watch Schiit EU site like a hawk, as it sells out quickly when they get new stock in.

Whether there is anything cheaper that can do the same job I don't know.

Cheers.

I may have to just get a USB Volume Control and use it to sort volume on the fly that way within windows... and use podxt live volume to control guitar.

Its just so i have some way at hand that doesnt involve keyboard quick functions or going to taskbar.
