I'm thinking about moving in with a friend who's currently living in Malta and I'm wandering what the best way to go about moving my desktop would be? I briefly looked on places like parcel monkey but they won't insure computers.

Insure it up the wazoo. It will be totally knackered by the time it arrives. Best thing to do is either sell it at fair market value or ship it with each individual part carefully packed in polystyrene. Take it from somebody who made this mistake before! :)

Lol I assume he means his computer!

Honestly, I would buy some anti-static bags and totally disassemble it and pack it up in your cases. Ship the case seperately, or leave it behind and buy a new case once you're there.

Would not recommend ParcelMonkey at all, if you have a problem they will simply ignore you.

Yeah, I just looked there because that's how my mate moved his stuff originally. His stuff arrived alright but I can't take the risk of sending it uninsured as I need it for work.

Buying a new one would be great but I can't really afford to do that at the moment.

Dismantling it and just ditching the case is a good shout. I do like the case though :D but shipping that on its own shouldn't cost that much.

Edit: Anyone got any clue what the rig in my sig would be roughly worth if I did opt to sell it? It's decent but a bit out of date now =/ Though if I do sell everything my biggest hurdle will probably be finding someone for the cintiq.

Not worth the risk, sell it and buy again over there. Other option would be to take out the dedicated parts, gpu, cooler, sound card etc and just ship the case with the board inside, take the other hardware over with you.

Exactly what I did. In hand luggage I had the following :

1 x CPU
1 X CPU Cooler
2 x GTX 980s
6 x HDS
2 x SSDs
4 x DDR3 Sticks.

Security was a pain but no issues and all worked fine.
