Best way to stop game minimising back to desktop?

This usually happens to me a couple of times a night and whilst some games automatically pause, others don't such as Mass Effect 3. I've googled how to stop it but can't find a definitive answer. What do you guys do? Just live with it or is there an easy fix?

I think that's because you mistakenly press the windows key ?

Never had it happen to me TBTH because I have a switch on the keyboard that disables the windows key.

There will be a process running in the background that is taking priority and hence your game minimising. The hardest part is finding what one but when you do, that will stop it.

I suspect some websites in Chrome. If Chrome's not running it never happens for me.

If it was the Windows key there'd be the big give-away of the start menu popping up when the game minimises

Are you running your games full screen, or windowed?

I had this, turned out to be a crappy printer driver.

You can run tools which log which program currently has focus, and subsequently which program then steals it, so you can replace, update or remove it.

This great little command-line program does exactly that, it sits happily monitoring and tells you what has stolen focus, tiny and free:

AV has been the culprit for me in the past

Try disabling desktop composition (I think it's called) on the game's exe. Do you get any message, or is something just becoming 'active' and stealing the focus?
