Best way to test TV Aerial Connection?

So we had a rewire done last year, but left intact the existing aerial connection which goes from the wall in the living room to up through the master bedroom and into the loft space before connecting through to the main aeriel on the chimney stack. Currently we're only getting a couple of freeview channels and so suspect there is probably an issue with either the termination (new coax socket) or some damage to the cable between the living room and loft space. Whats the best way for me to verify continuity on the main cable run to the loft? I don't have ladders that can reach the aerial itself, I'm guessing it might have got damaged somehow while new chasing work was done, but difficult to tell as it's behind plastered walls (not plasterboard). Worst case I guess it might be a new cable drop down the outside of the house and bring it through where the current socket is somehow, ideally without disrupting all the fresh plasterwork. I doubt the backbox will be removable now plastering has been done etc.

I take it you've tried rescanning for channels on your TV?

If you're getting some channels, it suggests the cable is intact, and seems more likely to be an aerial positioning/pointing issue to me.

Get a local TV aerial company to do it for you. I had this issue and a guy came in and plugged in a meter that read the signal (which was crap). He cut me a new bit of cable and it did the job.

I think he only charged me £20 or so too (obviously not guaranteeing that will be the case for you).

These work well and always handy in the tool box.
