Hi

Got a windows 7 laptop and just purchased a new laptop for home use.

What is the best way of transferring data from the old laptop (Windows 7 to the new laptop - windows 10 presently - but believe i can upgrade to Windows 11 free?)

Mainly images, around 50-80Gb

Thank you

If you don't care about speed, honestly just make a share of the folder where all the images are and copy via your network.

It'll take a few hours sure, but nothing that leaving it overnight wouldn't hurt.

Alternatively it could be time to look into having a dedicated network drive / cloud solution?

Yes. Overnight transfer may work fine. Was just curious if after a while either laptop went to sleep. Would that interrupt the transfer

If you can, connect them to your router with network cables rather than Wi-Fi, even if it's just one of them.
Yes, they may go to sleep so you'll have to go into the power settings to prevent it.
Alternatively, if you have a some sort of backup for your images, you can copy from that.
