Sorry this has probably been asked a million times but Google just throws up a bunch of advertisement-led websites with lots of keywords...

Not fussed about losing text messages if it's difficult, but did want to try and keep my WhatsApp conversations. Going from a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, to iPhone 13 and just waiting for my number to port across to my new SIM currently.

Is it possible to get both across?

Thanks.

Text messages is easy just search on the play store/app store for a text message backup app and then restore the backup on your iPhone.

Whatsapp chats are basically impossible unless you pay for one of the transfer apps, I used an app called "Dr Fone" when I last tried dipping my toe into iOS.

@tom_e hmn I was hoping for a recommendation of said app. Not a fan of installing random apps, especially given they're moving my data around and will obviously need access to do so.

Shame about WhatsApp, seems quite daft. My chats are backed up to Google Drive but I'm guessing iOS doesn't like that?

Waiting for my SIM to start working before I try these..

All they do is export your texts to an xml file, they don't go anywhere you then manually ping the file over and recover it. I used one called "SMS backup and recovery" I think it was.

No, you'd think it would be as simple as restoring backed up chats but they don't let you do it without 3rd party software.

It can be done I used wondershare mobile trans pro to do it. Was a bit of a faff having both phones plugged in but it does guide you step by step. Think it cost me about 20 quid for a years licence.
