That's what I have at the moment. 2008 Mac Pro. What's the best route to upgrade? Third party or via Apple?

Thats a good link Feek. I also needed that to remind me how to upgrade my 2008 Mac Pro as I also want to go from 6GB to 10GB. The first time I upgraded 2 years ago I did not read any instructions and the new ram could not be seen. Logically you would think that you need to split the pair onto each board, but no :p

Defo get it from elsewhere as it's cheaper.

However when I upgraded the RAM in mine at the start of the year, I remember reading a lot about it and how you get better performance if you match all the RAM as the same or something.

ie:

1GB - 1GB
1GB - 1GB
1GB - 1GB
1GB - 1GB

2GB - 2GB
2GB - 2GB

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure it was something like that, which is why I went for smaller sticks, to match what I already had, rather than getting really big ones.
