I have Windows 10 Home edition at the moment but I've discovered that for some development tasks I need to do I require Windows 10 Pro. What is the best way of upgrading to the Pro edition of Windows. Cost isn't such an issue but obviously I'd like to save money if I can.

So what is the best option available to me?

Thanks for any help :).

Buy a Pro key or upgrade directly within Windows. Whichever is cheapest.

In-place upgrade via the Microsoft Store was £99, but I've got a feeling that was recently increased to £120.
You just pay the money, click on the "upgrade now" button and your Home turns into Pro.
Alternatively purchase a copy of Windows 10 Professional and simply change the product key - this isn't so much an upgrade, rather a replacement. Prices will vary, however for a legitimate OEM you shouldn't be paying less than around £130. For Retail, around £180.

Thanks for the advice both of you. I used the Windows Store and bought the upgrade for £120 there. It installed and restarted the computer 3 times and now everything is working and I am running Windows 10 Pro. Was a very easy process. I was impressed.

Linux time :D

In the past I used VMWare Workstation Pro 12.5 for running Linux on Windows. Will be cool to now be able to make use of Docker containers and Hyper-V itself as well. Will cut down on the amount of software I need to run.

Now I just need to buy a book to learn the best ways to use Docker. I've never used it before so I'm a bit of a newbie. If you have any suggestions for books to get me started I'd welcome some advice :). I'm doing ASP.NET Core MVC programming using Visual Studio 2017.

I've only been introduced to docker. I've not had the time yet to seriously get sunk into it so I can't help you I'm afraid. It's something on my ever growing never shrinking to-do list!
