Hi all.

Has anyone found a great way to watch Sky Go on a big screen?

At the moment, I am using my wife's work laptop (an old Samsung R580), to plug into our living-room TV for occasional use. The picture is a bit glitchy and the CPU really ramps up.

As the laptop is set up just the way my wife likes it, I am not allowed to fiddle with anything to try and improve things.

It then dawned on me that I had a Acer Revo Aspire R3610 lying around, doing nothing. I reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch and stripped it of every single program and device I could think of and set it to maximum performance.

Unfortunately, the TV was borderline unwatchable (not surprising, given that the Aspire is less powerful than the laptop).

Given that it is the Windows version of the app that seems to be so CPU inefficient, I had a go with Android x86 on the Aspire. Everything went brilliantly until I was told that the Android Sky Go app would not allow me to watch anything on a rooted device.

I am just wondering what other options there are.

Is it possible to run Sky Go from an android tablet, plugged into a TV via HDMI?

You have to pay extra to watch Sky Go on an Xbox? its 720p yeah which isn't the best but better than his laptop scenario.
If you have Multiscreen it comes free, and can be added with Sky VIP for free at Gold or above. Sky Go won't allow an output from a mobile or tablet to the TV. An Xbox or PlayStation will work but you need PSN or Gold to allow it which seems an arbitrary expense when Multiscreen itself is £13pm.

He already has Sky Go so he doesn't have to pay anymore than he already does or the persons account he is using ;).
Xbox live is £30 for a year if you buy a code off certain sites

Thanks everyone.

Based upon what you have all said, I am wondering whether I should consider a more powerful Windows-based device for my livingroom TV.

I currently use a Raspberry Pi3 for Live TV and recordings but have to switch to my Smart TV for Netflix and Amazon and then switch to the laptop for Sky Go.

It would be be particularly good to have a single device for everything (something with a bit more grunt than the laptop but not massively more power hungry than the Pi).

It seems that that the Beelink do some really decent value models - I was thinking about the S2. What do you think?
