I'm looking somewhere to host my website but need to check on a few things before I go and register to anything.
I need it to be hosted on a server that is Windows based and runs PHP, prefably with Apache. I've looked through magazines for the web host adverts but they mainly seem to be 'Web site builder' type ones which I'm not interested in. Another concern I have is the restrictions that may be impossed. One of my PHP scripts uses the exec() command to execute some external programs, one of them being 7zip. One of the executables is available on Windows only hence the need for a Windows based server. Because this command executes a system program will this cause any problems? I think if PHP is running in Safe Mode then it may prevent the script running properly.
