I'm building a family tree and need a good website for this.

The national census is useless for it because it only goes upto 1901 and costs a fortune to access even though it's a work of the government paid for by tax.

How much do subscriptions to these websites usually cost?

You would be suprised but Wikipedia can help a lot.

You find a major part ofyou family and you can often follow back other family members or towns they lived in.

And this site

My Dad uses http://www.ancestry.co.uk/

Yes it does cost a small amount per month but he seems to get on ok with it ...

My mum uses that site too. I'd ask her for the rest of the sites she uses, but I believe they are mostly Scottish ones, so probably won't be of any use to you.
