Hi guys as the title really!

I have been using a powerline for a while now, without it clocking... that I'm in an apartment and after resetting it today it connected to a different network.

This is pretty much the reason why I get lots of disconnects while playing games.

I live in a shared apartment in London so I can't/wont replace the modem which is the basic TalkTalk one.

So the only option i have left is to replace my Wifi Adapter in my PC.

Basically I need something that will punch through solid brick walls and give me a good connection, as my PC is in the corner of my room (It's a small room this LITERALLY can't be moved from this position unless everytime I open my door I smash it a little)

It's not far away but it's in the corner of another room so while it's only about 5-10 metres away it goes through about 3 - 4 walls.

So any suggestions on what will get me a good signal.

A new adapter might not help, what is your current one? Do you have access to the TalkTalk router? Are you allowed to place a stronger access point near it? Is there more than one powerline network in the apartment?

If you've cross connected your Powerline adapters with another network just configure your own encryption keys to make your network private. A two minute job which should be performed on any Powerline network.

The process should have been covered in the getting started pamphlet that came with them.

TP-Link TL-WN951N Advanced Wireless N PCI Adapter

It's there's only 1 in my flat, the flat above also has one and they are both sharing the same electricity line. I only found this out today as I restored my powerline and it defaulted to his one.

I can't currently pair mine as it's locked in the bedroom where the router is.

(Shared accommodation in London Yay!)

My Network was private, it defaulted to someone else when I reset it.

That adapter is pretty decent so I'm not sure a better one will help with the signal. You could maybe try a different antenna though, a quick search on the rainforest shows TP-Link with quite a few different wifi antennas.

So you don't have access to the router at the moment :p. I guess it will be hard to persuade the owner to replace it/add a better access point to it.
