Hi Guys,

I have a Linksys WAG354G which I use fore wireless net for the PC and the 360. After a thread on AV forums related to a constant strict or moderate NAT, ive discovered/ been told Linksys routers are a bit naff regarding NAT etc etc.

So if i were to change it, what would you guys recommened around the £50-60 mark?

Thanks

I cant recommend it, as I have nothing to compare it with but I have a D834g netgear router that has given me no troubles with xbox live.

Thanks, thts kl i was looking at some netgear ones :) could u clarify it gives you an open nat for me :p

All routers have NAT... its just how they handle the translation that differs. Netgear DG834N here and its brilliant, no issues with Live or anything else.

I have a D-Link Gaming router and can thoroughly reccomend it. I can be downloading big files or even torrents whilst two people play online with either PC or 360 and my wife surfs the net on her laptop without any gaming lag at all... it seems to detect when you are playing games and keep more bandwidth open for it. :)

cheers for all the feedback guys, Its only a few linksys routers that are xbox approved. I'l be going with a netgear one as its been approved and isnt too expensive. thanks for the help lads.

Im in the same boat.. might be getting a new router in a few months..

But does your routers allow you to connect to every game on burnout? I have had the most trouble with this.. and about 3 out of 4 i try i simply get i was unable to make a connection with 1 or more players.. and i cant get in.. (even though i hear them on voice)

A bit more expensive but I can reccomend this router as well, 802.11n > 802.11g anyday.

I have this router and have had no problems with the NAT. You just need to forward the relevant ports in the "Applications & Gaming" >> "Single Port Forwarding" section, turn on NAT and disable UPnP. Never had a problem connecting to or hosting any 360 games (played many ppl on this forum).

My last router was a Netgear D834G V2 which also worked fine with the 360, although it is only a backup now. Have rolled out over 100 of these for a previous company and had problems with some. They are not great for compatibility on a quite a few BT exchanges and we had quite a few have sync issues on such lines, where swapping for a Linksys on the same line fixed the issue. HOWEVER, my own personal one served me fine for about 1 year, after some chnages at my exchange it had syncing problems. Eventually I got the line replaced but from my own experience they are very good unless you have a poor quality line.

msg me if you need some settings help with the Linksys, I have firmware 1.01.05 for reference.
