I think it's probably fair to say that the polls are about as final as they're going to be so these are the XI players you lot chose as the best in their respective position (bar Vidic and Valencia)

--------------Hart--------------
Ivanovic--Vidic--Kompany--Cole
--------------Parker--------------
-------Y.Toure-----Silva-------
Valencia------RVP----------Bale

Went with 4-3-3 as the formation in the end simply as Valencia has twice as many votes as 2nd highest striker and a ton more votes than any of the 2nd highest midfielders.

In total there was 4 players from City, 2 from Chelsea, 2 from Spurs, 1 from Arsenal and 2 from Man Utd again simply on account of them coming second with the most votes in their respective polls.

So I guess it's over to you guys to discuss whether you're happy with the team, who you think doesn't deserve to be there, who you voted for in each poll, how you'd line up the above etc etc.

Parker does not deserve to be there. Useless.

Adds nothing to any midfield i have ever seen him in. Apart from of course the "TRUE ENGLISH SPIRIT" "EPITOMISING WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT ENGLISH FOOTBALLERS".

Apart from that i would swap RvP for Aguero.

They all deserve their spot, for me though I'd prefer Toure where Parker is and Modric with Silva in the middle. That's just my preference though, there's no omissions that I would call stupid.

The only other thing I would say is having gone with 433, it's possible to make a case for dropping either Bale or Valencia for Aguero or Rooney, I'd be tempted to switch Valencia tbh.

well, it's kind of the point.
What is?

I do understand people using the criteria that anyone who's been out injured for that amount of time can't get their vote, absolutely no issue with people taking that view. I just tend to lean towards giving him the benefit of the doubt, he hasn't been out so long that I have doubts he won't come back the same player, until it's proved otherwise that is my assumption.

one played a lot lot more than the other last season, domestically and internationally and performed (for the most part) very well.

i've no doubt he wont come back the same player either (well, maybe a little) but then that's not the point of the poll...

Neither is picking who played better last season. I'd have Vidic over Terry because I think he's a better CB, which is the point of the poll.

Debatable, considering he's had a serious injury which he may not come back from at the same standard as before.
That's possible yeah, but I'm going off the assumption he will be the same player. I have no problem with anyone that thinks there's too much of a question mark to vote for him, or just doesn't rate him, or whatever. Each to their own.

his ability as one of the best cb's the pl has ever seen is (or should be) clear for all to see?
as was rio ferdinand

You see I disagree, I've never rated Terry, not even when he was at his so called best when Jose was in charge.

+1.

Would love to see that team play!

Presumably if Kompany did his cruciate tomorrow, those who are saying Vidic shouldn't be included in this team would say the same about him (or any other player for that matter)?

That seems relatively okay.

Goalkeeper: fine.

Defence: Hm, fairly okay. Vidic and Kompany are the best defenders by quite a margin (when playing well) so they deserve to be there. Cole is fine for LB and RB is a trickier one but there's not much wrong with Ivanovic.

Midfield: Parker... I don't know. I'd rather have Yaya there in a defensive role (as we have to shoehorn everyone in). CM is a tough one but Silva/Modric or something could be better there.

Wingers: Valencia or Nani, on form definitely the latter. Bale... just about, he's poor a lot of the time though, let's be honest.

Striker: RvP on his current form, yes. Wouldn't mind Rooney either, both would do the job.

Perhaps make a subs bench Tom?
