Best XL-ATX Case for ssd's setup?

I seems to me that most cases are still being made with SATA drives in mind.

Any new kids on the block that have been made for only SSD's?

Why would you want an XL-ATX case if you're only using SSDs? If you need that much space for a monster GPU array then you'd probably need to remove the drive cages anyway. Or if you're throwing enough cash at SSDs to warrant an XL-ATX case, then a couple extra quid for dual 2.5" adapters won't break the bank.

Just a bit confused by what you're doing tbh.

You are right I want to remove the drive cases, which would leave the side wall for the MB and few more SSDs. However I have not seen any cases that have any wall SSDs fixing there. I have seen fixing the other side of the MB, but only for two SSDs.

Just makes for a better airflow IMO, if you don't use any SATA drives.

Have you considered a Corsair 750D or 730T or 780T? All of these will do what you want.

I have the 750D and have removed the cages and it works a treat, best case I have ever owned!

Nice case, but I guess what I am saying is, why are not manufacturers designing with SSDs in mind.

Here is a NZXT H630 case which looks really nice. It has two fittings for SSDs at the back of the MB....

But if you remove the HD Cages here....

You are left with a space which would be great if it was also filled with SSD fittings. This would make for a better airflow system for all those GPU's

Because needing space for more than 2 SSDs is a very specific requirement and not really worth designing and building case support for?

Maybe if there was an industry movement to dropping 3.5" mechanical drives in favour of 2.5" mechanical drives then we'd see more support, but right now more than 1 SSD is pretty niche, let alone 3+.

They're SSDs, you can stick them on with glue or double sided tape anywhere you like. I guess you want something more 'pro' than that though :)

Why not simply use adapters to fit 2 SSDs into each 3.5" slot? That way you can fit twice as many SSDs as there are 3.5" bays.

If you're interested in airflow to GPUs, why not try something like the RV03 - I've got all my SSDs and HDDs behind the motherboard trays and have only a single blu-ray drive in the front slots so there's loads of room in the front for airflow.

Minor point but you are referring to SATA drives as mechanical 3.5" drives I think. You realise that SSD's are SATA drives too, the SATA term is the connecting interface, not a 3.5" format.

SSDs are SATA
2.5" HDDs are SATA
3.5" HDD's are SATA

If you want a case with many SSD slots but leaves the front HDD cages empty then the Antec 1900 is ideal. It has a lower chamber for PSU and HDD/SSD mounting, the top chamber which houses the motherboard and extra HDD cages can have all the HDD's cages removed, not easily as they are rivetted in, but a rivet is quite easy to remove, but just cannot put it back.

6 HDD bays in the lower area which can fit 2.5" or 3.5" drives. Remove the top HDD cages and great open space and air flow.
This case is due to land with OCUK tomorrow, in both red and green options.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Antec 1900 Nineteen Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case Green / Black £139.99
1 x Antec 1900 Nineteen Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case £139.99
Total : £294.98 (includes shipping : £12.50).

See here for my example build I did. (this is with the 5.,25" bays and HDD bays removed and I removed all the lower HDD/SSD trays from the bottom 6 mounts other than the 2 I populated)

Again nice case, but too much room is taken up with unnecessary cages that have been primarily designed for 3.5" HDDs.

Many people are now only using SSD's 2.5". Yes, you can remove the cages, but it's a modification for something that I think should be standard or at least thought of in the design if you are still going to included cages.

Yep you are right. I just always think of SATA as being 3.5". corrected in my last post.

Great Antec 1900 rig!

Antec 1900 seems a nice case, was thinking about the Corsair 750d, but might have to change my mind now.

Seriously mate, watch some of the reviews on the 1900 it is an awful case.

The TTL one on youtube is a really good in depth version and the 1900 is full of flaws, the 750D is a much better case.

Sorry I am not quite sure what your issue is, all of those cases I showed you have provisions for SSD's as shown in the picture below. There are 4 x SSD slots that run vertically up the side of the case towards the 5.25" bays.

Removing the 3.5" cages will further increase your airflow and you can just have you SSD's mounted in the 2.5" slots.

Check the below images.

The TTL video was overly flamboyant due to political reasons, he did that video to make a point with Antec. But I won't go into the details, anyway the quality of the case in his video was engineered to make it seem poor. Granted the case does have a few flaws, but with a little modification you can achieve a better build geared towards lots of space and good watercooling, like my build.

Those cases are exactly what I mean. The SSDs line up nicely leaving room for some nice air flow.

The problem for me and this is purely subjective "one man's beauty, is another man's ugliness" and all that. I wish other manufactures would follow suit so that other cases that I find more aesthetically appealing where available.

Does the Corsair Obsidian 900D also have these fittings? I cannot tell, then again with so much space at the bottom it's not necessarily needed
