My second computer is running 7800GS AGP and 2GB RAM but the CPU is only XP2600+ clocked @ 2.0Ghz. What's the best processor to stick in there to give things a kick?

Fastest you can get is a Barton 3200+

But you need DDR 400 RAM to run it and a mobo that can do 400FSB
I'm certain that's what's in there so that should be OK. In fact it's definitely 400FSB because the clock is 200@10 and it's got DDR RAM. I've just sniffed about and it appears that people are paying fairly big money for these CPU's. Ouch!

What motherboard does it have?

Def best to get a mobile as they go for about half the price of a xp3200, clock much better and remain cooler in the process.
Motherboard is Asus A7N8X-X NForce2 400. The current XP2600 is at 200@10 and sits underneath a massive Thermaltake cooler. It runs OK at 200@12 but get the odd blue screen so I leave it at 200@10 for rock solid use. I've been out the O/C loop a while so wouldn't go messing with volts or RAM timings too much but if the mobile processor can go better than 200@12 on air and still stable I'll probs go for that. However, the market for these processors is shocking. People are paying over £50 on some other website.
