Is this common?

In an effort to get round the DX11 stuttering on Arkham City, I thought I've give the latest beta drivers a blast, something I'd never done before on a rig in fear of countless blue screen crashes.

Stuttering has gone down a bit (but is still there and I honestly don't think will ever be fixed)

However, Shift 2 now works. I was getting constant app crash errors everytime I started the game up with the WHQL, and Metro 2033 works, the game wouldn't even start up before with the WHQL (285.62)

I advise anyone who is having crashes who loading problems in games and has fault found every other possible error (mem test etc) to try beta's over WHQL.

Betas are not necessarily less stable in 100% of cases, they have just not been submitted for certification yet.

I will always use the latest beta if it contains fixes/performance increases and I rarely, if ever, have stability issues.

+1

I have only ever found beta's to be beneficial.

The non-beta is likely to have fixes for older bugs. So yes it can well be more stable. However they could also potentially introduce new bugs or not reliably enough fix old ones, and it is because of this that they are still "beta". Companies normally do extensive testing before submitting to WHQL. If you're having problems with existing drivers there's a good chance a beta would fix it.

nVidia's beta drivers are usually fairly decent... usually. Some people will cry but personally I rate a good nVidia beta drivers as good as a good AMD WHQL release and a good nVidia WHQL above anything AMD has put out todate.
