Bethesda Judder

I'm experiencing judder with Bethesda games, and am hoping someone may have a fix. Games affected are:

Skyrim
Fallout
The Evil Within

The problem is when looking around with the mouse, it has this constant judder going on that I can't bear. Sometimes, the fps counter is reporting well above 60fps but the judder is there like it's 30fps or something.

I don't experience this with any other games. :confused:

System Spec:

Rampage V
5930k @ 4.4
980ti SLI
X34a - 3440*1440 resolution
SSD
Windows 10

Is V-sync off in game? It should be with a G-sync monitor.

Edit - Apparently Fallout 4 doesn't have the option to disable V-SYNC and you can't go above 60FPS as it messes with several of the games systems (in-game clock, physics etc)

I think you can get a mod that disables V-Sync but caps your framerate to 60fps which might help.

Could be Microstutter?

Just SYK Gsync was initially designed to be run with vsync turned on. ( Nvidia actually forced it locked but people complained because they couldn't understand this choice ) So it's now an option but it really should be left on for the best experience with Gsync there are a few interesting videos regarding this.

Are the games installed on the SSD?

As above with SLI it could well be microstutter.

In-game V-sync should be off because setting G-sync in the Nvidia control panel turns on Nvidia global V-sync

Sometimes the in-game and global V-sync can cause conflicts.

Vsync should always be off when using Gsync. Vsync shouldn't even be an option once Gsync is enabled.

It's always going to be an option in the game menus though, there's nothing Nvidia can do about that.

I just always makes sure I turn it off in the video/graphics options

If you turn it off in Nvidia control panel for all games it won't be on in games, never is for me.

Please direct your attention to 12:15 in this video, or watch it all. It's all a lot more complex than just off/on than i remember but still.

You're talking about the global setting though.

I never turn that off because G-sync setup explicitly enables is.

Obviously Global V-sync 'off' will overrule most games.

I'm saying if you have in-game V-sync on AND the Nvidia Global V-sync then it could cause issues, so always disable it in game when using G-sync.

I'm agreeing with you that Nvidia intended it to work with V-sync on, but you should turn if OFF in the game menu and rely on Nvidia's global V-sync setting.

Ah sorry, i thought it was for in game too

.Yeah i suppose having 2xvsync options running would be a bit ham.

Needless to say i hope OP get's his games working smoothly

nothing worse than having such nice hardware and such a bad experience.

Yeah I have Vsync globally turned off, Gsync works as it should.

Yes, they're on SSD. I could download to M.2 and try that. In fact I'll download Vanilla Skyrim to M.2 and see how it runs. I'll try both single card and SLI, and if anyone has any suggestions for testing I'd appreciate it as I'm keen to get this fixed.

Vanilla skyrim? from this can i assume that the one you was testing was modded?
