Hi guys,

I have a 2001 (mark 1) focus 1.6 ghia, the brakes on it is a bit soft, not as good as on my previous car. I am wanting to change just the brake pads to better pads that have better braking/stopping power. what brake pads would you recommend?
Thanks in advance guys :)

I installed the Mintex brake set available on eBay. Excellent value for money, and have come well regarded on Focus boards. As above though, brake fluid change might also be advisable. Also, I think the Focus has naturally softer brakes; I find mine are very gentle with light pressure, but still bite nicely with a firm press. I personally find this fine, it makes braking very gentle and gradual, but I can see why lots of people would prefer a sharper setup.

i changed the brake fluid in my gfs 55 reg fiesta. it couldnt have been more than a few years old but the brakes felt completely different (improved) afterwards.

as for sharper brakes, i think people just want the car how to be when they got it/when it was newer. hers requires almost no pressure at all now.

DS3000 on a Focus 1.6 is massive overkill, surely.

ask a silly question, get a silly answer imo

the oe hardware is going to be more than up to the task. for the pedal to be "a bit soft" that wont be because the discs and pads have suddenly become soft and squishy, it will be because the brake fluid is now duff.
