Better CPU & GPU...OR...faster speed and more memory?

Overclockers forum experts, I need your help again.

I have found two laptops, one is £670 and the other is £730.

The specs for the £670 one is:

-CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor
-Clock Frequency: 2.2 (up to 3.1 GHz with turbo)
-Memory size: 4 GB
-Hard disk capacity: 500 GB
-NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M DirectX® 11 graphics card featuring 2048 MB memory and digital HDMI audio/video output NVIDIA® Optimus™ technology

And for the £730 one:

-CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-740QM processor
-Clock Frequency: 1.73 GHz ( upto 2.9 with turbo)
-Memory size: 6 GB
-Hard disk capacity: 1 TB
-NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX460M DirectX® 11 graphics with 1536 MB GDDR5 memory and HDMI interface

I don't care about the RAM or the HDD capacity. It's all about the CPU and GPU. The £670 one has a higher CPU speed at 3.1 Ghz and higher graphical memory whereas the £730 one has a better CPU(?) and and better graphics card but with a lower graphical memory.

I am looking the laptop with higher HD video rendering speeds in Sony Vegas and higher frame rates on high end video games e.g. GTA IV, Skyrim.

So which one is better?

The second has a better graphics card from what I can find,

Though for your uses, you might find the faster CPU more beneficial for your rendering.

Cheers for your response. Do you think the difference in CPU power is bigger than the difference in GPU power?

The 2nd link you provided showed the two GPU in a different colour catergory, implying the GT555 is worse than the GTX460. But how much worse?

I'd probably go for the first one, the games you list aren't massively GPU intensive, and the better CPU will be more useful to you.

Also this,
in terms of gaming performance the GTX460M is faster, but the GT555M is VERY overclockable, surpassing a standard GTX460M after a bit of tweaking, having a GT555M myself (the dell version at least with 192bit mem bus and 144shaders) I can tell you it's more than a mid-range laptop card (of course you could also overclock a GTX460M too making that a moot point :-P)
