right ladies and gents 2 choices for a gaming rig here keep my current with a cpu upgrade or a system refresh

below are the specs of each

stuff thats staying the same
Corsair hx 650
8800 GTS 640
2x samsung hard drives
usual add ons opticals etc

current rig also has
Gigabyte P35 DS3r Rev2
8gig of corsair xms 800mhz ram

and i'll be upgrading the current 2160 to a q9450

OR

gigabyte h55ud2h
I3 530
4 gig of generic DDR3

now ignoring anything like future upgradability(i dont think i'd do any upgrading with the 1156 platform too short a time frame before its obsolete and my next rig after this will more than likely be a complete new build so thats out

whats going to give better performance one clocked

i'd image i'll get a very easy 3.6 ghz if not more out the 9450 and most likely 4ghz out the 530

but which of the above systems would give better gaming? i mainly play Sins of a solar empire and Fm2010 btw so pretty cpu intensive and multi core supporting (fm2010 support up to 8 cores iirc

over to you guys as i'm still swithering

or alternatively? is there a better mobo cpu and ram combo for £250 that i'm missing?

Go with the q9450, I can't comment on the games performance really but that option is:

Cheaper
Easier (less hassle, don't need to reinstall Windows etc).

I'm not quite sure what the FSB limit is for quad cores on P35 mobos, however at a guess you should be able to get at least 3.5GHz out of it, which should be more than enough for those games.

well the rev 2 of the ds3r is quite happy playing with high fsb by all accounts
