Hey guys,

So a couple of months ago i wanted to get a new monitor, i decided to wait and now i have £400 to spend on one.

Is this the best monitor for my set up and price?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-067-ac.html

I only have a single GTX 970 SC so i guess that 1920 x 1080 would be the best reslution for me?

Just looking for a bit of advice before i spend £400, are there better alternatives for the price?

Thanks all

Edit: At the moment im using an old 60 Hz 24 inch LCD monitor bought in 2011

My Spec

i5 2500k @ 4.2 Ghz
8GB Ram
EVGA GTX 970 SC
Samsung EVO 500GB SSD
WD 1TB HDD
Corsair 650 HX PSU
Windows 10 64 Bit

Just to add my 2p - I have not been impressed with the quality of AMVA panels (the Samsung and BenQ above). I wasn't able to find one that didn't exhibit some degree of noticeable brightness banding.

It's possible I was just unlucky, but I personally won't consider monitors based on that panel technology again. There's a reason it's cheaper than IPS...

Depends what you will be using it for personally I would never buy a TN panel for that price, especially when it's manufactured by Acer (generally poor build quality). I have the 25" version of this and it's a lovely viewing experience, gets a little bit of tearing when playing some games but with a bit of configuration it can usually be fixed - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell-ultrasharp-u2715h-27-2560x1440-ips-widescreen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-080-de.html

Hi and thanks for the reply, this mointor will be used for gaming 90% of the time, I will have a look at that Dell monitor but I dont have the desk space for the 32 inch ones

Thanks

Thanks for the info i willl have a look at some other screens.

2560x1080 will be absolutely horrible on a 34" monitor. Avoid.

For £300-400 there are tons of options for 25-27" 1440p IPS panels. All you can really do is search for reviews to determine build quality, features, and likely the most variable, input lag.

At medium settings, a GTX970 would cope fine with the resolution.

There you go Bone has the 27" u2715h and recommends it, while it's not specifically produced for gaming it is an IPS panel and a very nice screen. I have always had dell screens in the past and always found that they give a good viewing experience, while they might not have the fastest refresh rates for fps gaming they have very nice colour reproduction and relatively small input lag and response times.

Seriously save and get a 1440p ultra wide....gaming is sublime

I've just got the Dell U3415W and it's amazing

Perhaps a silly question, but are there any ultrawides that aren't curved? I'm not really against the format, but I do proper graphics work too and I don't feel like a curved surface will do me any favours there...

AOC U3477PQU and LG UM3495 are both flat 34" models.

Worth keeping in mind that for the non-gaming oriented models, input lag is typically poor. Depends how fussy you are really. Casual gamers won't have any issues.

^ A 970 will certainly run at 1440, but expect to reduce some settings to medium in the most punishing games. For example GTA5, Witcher 3, AC Black Flag.
