Righty just ordered a Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB card for my shuttle, I am now after a new screen to go with it, 24" Widescreen and above is what I am interested in, prepeared to spend upto £1000 (I know the dell 30" is on offer at the mo, but dont think it would fit on my desk comfortably :p)

I need to be able to hook up the following bits of equipment:

Connection from my PC - Must be DVI
Connection from my MacBook Pro (Used as 2nd screen when connected)
Nintendo Wii - Component is probably my best option?

My current shortlist is below, anybody have any other suggestions, at the moment I will probably go for either the Dell or the BenQ, or would I be better off waiting another couple of months to see what else arrives on the market?

Dell 2407WFP

- Component input, but I've heard its pretty poor quality, can anybody confirm this for me, and what about aspect ratios and scaling?

BenQ FP241W

- I see these are back on pre-order with OcUK, does that mean the one I get would have the 1:1 pixel mapping features?

Nec 26" Widescreen LCD

- Anybody know when they are due to be released?

- The Dell 2407WFP does feature aspect ratio control, so no issue there with regards to connecting up a Wii via component. Not sure what quality would be like, ideally would need an opinion from someone who has both :)

- BenQ FP241W firmware update is said to be included in all stock manufacturered from Jan onwards. If OcUK get new stock in then it is quite possible it will be the updated version, but we will have to wait and see

- NEC 2690WUXi is due to be released over here sometime in Jan, so i'd expect to see it over the next few weeks, maybe delayed slightly into early Feb. However, this is a display aimed at graphics professionals and the corporate market, not really intended for home users. I'm not sure it would be well suited to a gamers needs.

Mega for pro use although games suffer slightly

Thanks for the info guys.

Interesting review of the Nec screen.

I will mostly be using it for office work, audio editing (when hooked up to the Mac) and films / Wii, but for somthing costing the best part of £1000 I would probably expect it to perform much better.

I currently have a ViewSonic VP171s (16Ms model) so whatever I get will probably look much better, especially with the increased resolution.

Just also noticed that the BenQ comes with an on-site warrenty over the Dell's 4 year C&R, I also have no particular love for Dell's support department.

Wont be buying it till the end of the month anyway so hopefully by then the BenQ firmware upgrade will have been confirmed.
