Better Picture Viewer

Right I am a bit of an Apple virgin admittedly so this may be a daft question, but is there a better picture viewer available for Macs? At the minute when I'm looking through a folder of pictures I have to open and close each one individually. Is there a Windows-like application that has buttons for Next/Previous Picture etc?
 
Use quicklook its built in and just use the arrow keys to skip through.

If you don't have the eye symbol right click the bar > customize toolbar > drag eye.

Or right click the image and select open with quicklook.

Quicklook is good, but it's limited for moving through pictures one by one. Unless you have finder set to a list style view it won't move through in the correct order without using all four arrows.
