Better then scart?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a nice new panasoinc 26" HD LCD. Its great and a massive improvement over my old big sony.

Only problem is my cable box only has connectors for scart and I think component. Is there any kind of lead I could get that would improve the picture further as at the moment its scart-scart.

Component would be an improvement over scart if your TV accepts component input?

Failing that there really isn't much you can do. Scart should be fine for SD broadcasts as long as you get a decent cable.

Thanks for reply,

I think it accepts component, is that the one where there are 3 holes? 1 for video + left/right speaker channel?

That is composite video along with stereo sound... Composite will be much worse than scart so forget about it.

2 Things to try. In the menus make sure the box is outputting an RGB signal over scart rather than PAL. This will make a huge dfifference in terms of quality.

Secondly buy a decent gold plated scart cable. Look to spend around £10 as you won't see much improvement after that. 'Thor' are considered to be a very good make for a reasonable price. Also make sure the cable is as short as possible. i.e. if you can get away with a 1m one then go for that.

Signal is better now, thanks. Will look out for a decent scart though.
 
Just_fyi_scart_isnt_a_signal-in_itself._It_carries_another_signal_its_merely_a_different_connector._It_can_carry_composite_svideo_or_rgb_depending_how_its_wired.
