For those newly upgraded to Mountain Lion and using a Magic Mouse, install Better Touch Tool and you can set a Magic Mouse gesture using that to activate Notification Centre. I have it set to a two finger tap and it works nicely.
I also set two finger swipe up for Mission Control and two finger swipe down for Application Expose.
If you click the live preview button in BTT, it gives you a live indication of the input your Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad is getting, It's surprising how much control you have using gestures on the mouse.
Another quick tip, Download Hiss to get notifications from Growl enabled apps pushed to Notification Centre, you don't even need Growl installed for this to work. It's seems to work flawlessly so far.
Kind regards,
Neil
