I was looking at these monitors as they look awesome and specs looked good compared to others. It turns out you need to look at the monitor panel, these samsung use TN panels which are cheap. The best monitor in this range is the Dell 2209WA as it uses the far superior IPS panel despite the monitor it self looking rather bland

I have the t220 and the bigger brother version, the t260 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-087-SA&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

They are both amazing monitors for gaming and watching HD movies. I mention the t260 (26") version as I picked it up from PC world for 250£. With the extra resolution it offers 1920x1200, HDMI slot, USB slot, audio out it is worth the extra money in my opinion.

Mr white could you explain a bit more about the panel types and the benefits of the IPS panel comapred to the TN panels?

Thanks guys, just looked at the Dell. Pretty good spec tbh!

Might spend the extra on that, but would be interested on what MR White says about IPS screens.

I'm interested in both of these monitors in particular as well, it's just so annoying that there are no reviews at all that I can find on Google.

As far as I'm aware, TN panels are cheaper than IPS panels. TN panels seem to have faster response times, but much lower viewing angles than IPS. Also, the colour reproduction on IPS panels is supposed to be much better than TN. I've had no experience with IPS, it's just what everyone seems to say :D

Looking at wiki the main benefits of IPS over TN is colour reproduction and viewing angle (vertical in particular).

Ive never had a problem with either of my samsung monitors with regards to viewing angles or colour, in fact I would say these monitors are brilliant at both. I can't really imagine how the picture quality of these samsungs could be better, then again Ive never seen an IPS panel so I cant really say.

Higher resolution isnt everything on a screen. For example a 22 inch monitor with 1920x1200 may sound excellent on paper, but in my opinion is to cramped in real life.

Best to have those full HD resolutions on a larger screen so you can appreciate them more. As unknownsock (LOL @ that name) says, TN is fine for movies and such, those more expensive panels are aimed at graphics professionals and photographers, people who basically need very accurate colour representation.

I dont think your really going to be able to go "wrong" with either of those monitors - however i will also add my vote to lean towards the Dell 2209WA.

With 22" I'd rather have the extra inch vertically of the 2209WA instead of the extra 30 lines of the P2250.

Depends if the response time is grey to grey or color to color.

Some manufacturers post the g2g to make their products more attractive to people that dont check the smaller print :)

Edit ... although IPS panels do have a higher repsonse time than their TN counterparts

The Dell 2209WA is grand for gaming, the difference between 2ms and 6ms is imperceptible, so seriously don't worry about it.

Also, the dell has low input lag, which also helps for gaming.

I have gamed on one - and it looks fantastic, definitely worth it over the TNs.
