This looks interesting.

Beware's fresh take on the survival horror genre is that the entire game takes place with you sat behind the wheel of a banged-up car. Enemies skid around its sepia-stained open world, hunting you down and trying to ram you off the road as you piece together bits of information scattered throughout the landscape. It sounds fascinating, and it's just got its first public playable demo.

You can download it here—it's still an early version of the game, so expect bugs, although the visuals are very polished. The demo has one mission, in which you have to follow a mysterious figure on the edge of some woods. If you want to find out more, then players are talking about the mission in more detail in this Reddit thread (only click if you're okay with spoilers).

That thread makes it sound intense, and properly scary. Everyone's talking about the sense of paranoia they're getting from driving around knowing that they could get into a car chase at any moment. The fact that enemies are scarce makes it scarier, too, because it leaves more time to build tension between moments of action.

If you want some gameplay, then watch the five-minute video that YouTube user Ray Fields uploaded below. The lighting looks fantastic, as do the water effects on the windows of your car. I'm really impressed with the visuals overall, and seeing headlights creep into the rear-view mirror seems like it would be genuinely terrifying.

Another interesting czech game, this time inspired by iron curtain and trying to escape it. Looking forward to eventual full release, the concept sounds brilliant.

Tried to play but it just won't work properly for me which is a shame.

Manage to load in, but just freezes all the time :(

Had a little play with this, looks interesting although i always hate when all horror games basically any light=crazy haze or fog.
This game looks like someone has smeared oil all over the screen, is actually better with the lights off and quite comically i got behind the car with the things in it and started ramming them, until i spun off into some kind of crater and got killed :)

It took me a few attempts to get it to work as first time it felt like 4fps then i restarted and it was pretty smooth.
Think it could be really good once a bit more work goes into it.

so what the hell is that thing with the light and the yellow jack in the woods, it turns off the light then runs away but im parked behind it and cant interact with it. it kinda bounces off the front when you try and run it over. looks like a big slug with a yellow jacket on.

If you take the 1st left after the dam then straight at the next crossroads its on the left, you can see itsd little camp with its light.

edit* its an old woman with a headscarf on. cant kill her through.

Despite being super early, the atmosphere and driving mechanics are surprisingly well done. I'm curious how this will be built into a final game.

It's very easy to permanently trap the attacking vehicle between trees, in a manner that I suggest wouldn't be easily resolved unless changes are made to collision detection. Early stages though. And the atmosphere is great. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

I was in an open area and the bad guys got out of their car to come for me, i hit reverse for a little while, handbraked and sped off; i never saw the bad guy car again and was free to roam the map.

However, the map was very samey and so i had no idea if i was making progress or just going in circles!!

Is there an end to this?

Did anyone read the readme.txt file? It says there is 1 hidden mission in the demo.

There isn't a clear completion as far as I know. If you search for 'Beware Old Woman' on YouTube, you will probably get some weird videos. But if you watch this video instead; you can see the main gameplay elements people have found.
