About to go and buy some Beyerdynamic DTX 900 Headphones which will be used for gaming and music (via PC).

Price wise they are on par with the Sennheiser HD 555 but I've heard the Beyerdynamics are a better choice all round. (Both around the £50 mark)

Can anyone confirm this or want to add a third contender to the mix before I get the Beyers? :D

AKG make some good 'phones at the lower price points. Dunno about the DTX900, but the Beyer DT100's are the industry standard in pretty much every audio application [a little heavy for light/gaming use though]. Having said that, the DT100's are fully modular, so when you vacuum up the headphone cable/right earpiece/family dog, you can replace just the broken part...

I used to have a pair of the more expensive DT 770 Pros which were just awesome. They've been my favorite pair for a long time. If that's anything to go by then I'm sure that A T H (<-filter got that for some reason, but that should be three letters at once) 900's are going to sound sweet.

I currently have a pair of Audio Technica ATH A900's which kind of lack bass but are okish..

I own a pair of DTX900's.

They do sound good, however they are made almost totally out of plastic and thus feel a beat "cheap". Also the ear peices aren't exactly large so start to hurt my ears after a few hours use.

If you can get them for sub £50 and you are set on them I won't say not to get them as they are pretty good sound wise.
