I have a habit (a bad one) of seeing something shiny and wanting to buy it :(

I saw these a long time ago but was put off by the price which is no surprise but a month or two ago now my crappy wireless logitech headset that I wore around my neck as a wireless mic broke! I would have simply got another or got a cheap mic like most people do but then I remembered these... A week or two later I had ordered a customised 'Manufaktur' version :|

Anyway, obviously they are miles ahead of my cheapish £100 wireless Sennheiser headphones I've been using for a while. The bass is a lot better but I guess that's partly due to the fact they are closed. I don't have a lot to compare them to but I know I like em which is what counts for me at the end of the day.

Anyway here's some pics:

They look effin sick.

I have been toying with some of those for a while, but cant justify it as I already own some normal DT990's What was the damage in the end and how long did they take to deliver?

Well you can price em up yourself and you'll soon see that all the little options soon bump the price up quite a fair bit.

Theres a lot of choice in colours etc but I was a bit disappointed that the colours for the leather parts like the headband and earpieces didn't match the colours available for the cans themselves. This seemed a bit odd and I couldn't find any other combo that I liked so I just went with shiny piano black and the basic brushed metal finishes

If you buy the basic headset it's around 275 euro I think but the carbon fibre look wasn't my thing. I also bought the USB soundcard with it too just for the sake of it. I'll probably never use it but I like having the option to if I ever need decent headphones on a computer with a crap soundcard or no soundcard.

There are a few hidden costs which appeared at the end which didn't make me very happy but by that stage my mind was set so it made no difference. The cheapest postage option was another 21 euros or thereabouts and there was also around 61 euro worth of tax because of buying it from Germany where it was made.

They took just short of 3 weeks to get to me and were just short of 400 euros in total which is a hell of a lot but my mind was set. The fact the options for a premium headset are quite limited helped me along and it's nice having something that is fairly individual :)

Just click the Manufaktur button and see what random colour combos you get lol http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/multimedia/mmx-300-manufaktur.html

He phal, i have also been playing around with the idea of getting a set of these and was wondering what the sound is like. And whether you are powering it solely with on board sound card or a decent sound card.

I use a Xonar D2X which has been great so far and was wondering if this headset would not have enough juice to power them. My sennheisers pc350's are a little tatty now and the only logical upgrade would be a set of these.

Oh btw the site states that if you buy it off Beyerdynamic themselves it includes the taxation charge already.

They sound awesome (if you like closed cans) but I don't have much else to compare them to so it's not a very informed opinion I guess :P The few reviews I read all said they sounded good too even compared to half decent headphones in the price range. They are also insulated so you can't hear much else with them on!

One of the few reviews I found : http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/beyerdynamic/MMX_300/

Currently it's being powered straight out of my Titanium HD soundcard but I'll probably be getting some kind of headphone amp. Don't really need an amp since they're not very hard to power at 32ohms impedance. The extra little bit of volume would be nice on some songs but mostly I want a physical volume control on my desk as well as a headphone port I don't have to crawl under my desk for >.<

As for the tax, not really sure whether that tax included thing only counts for regular products but it just added itself to my invoice so I didn't question it too much since there didn't seem to be any info about what it applied to.

Maybe I should email them lol
