Just to clarify, anyone who uses a router to get out on to the internet, ideally who uses the above router. Have you had to open the ports on the router (port forwarding) for BF 2142?

Does it run ok without?

Cant seem to log in at all. Is it my setup or EA being rubbish?

Problems with the EA server I believe. The EA-Link/Downloader software can't even log in at the moment, so the game I've paid for, I can't even download, yet alone play.

I've got a 585 too, and didn't have to open any ports up for the demo. Unless you are running a server, I think you'll be fine, assuming the EA servers are not screwed up.

It does work, but you have to leave it for a few minutes (literally).
It takes a couple of minutes to get ast the select your soldier bit, then you get a blank menu screen for another couple of minutes.
After that it's fine, this does only seem to happen about once a week and around the same time, so it's likely to do with the maintenance.
