My copy of BF2142 refuses to start on the grounds that the Install DVD isn't in the DVD drive... except it is, and always has been. It has only started doing this once I updated Daemon Tools from v3.47 to v4.08. Any ideas on how to get my game going again? I shouldn't have to choose between my apps and my games, and I refuse to believe having a SCSI drive emulator is somehow 'illegal' or 'not allowed'.

BF 2142 v1.2
DTools v4.08

im not sure but i think there may be some sort of "stealth" app that hides progs like deamon etc..

cant think for the life of me what its called tho.

its a copy protection feature

when it detects drive emulation it shuts off acess to the disk

my mate had this with a SATA dvd burner. It has to use SCSI emulator to work

its because most of the disk copying things try to emulate a virtual drive to get round the disk needing to be in the drive

heavy handed but nothing you can do about it.

That is very very odd?

I run bf2142 with the latest daemon tools running and no problems?

I've even backed up my bf2142 to another dvd and it even allows me to play online using my backup dvd (yes, i did buy the original but was worried bout scratching the disc). I've looked around for a mini-image but cant find one anywhere.

What sort of application could I use to back my DVD up?

It is NOT a copy protection feature if it stops me from playing a game I spent £30 of my god damned money on!

First they slam me for six months with total incompatibility with my Creative XFi (the good old crackling -> bluescreen problem, which seems to be fixed for me in the latest patch) and now they stop me from playing the damn thing! I really wish I could get my money back :(

Could the fact that I've recently installed games like Test Drive (which also uses a version of SecuROM) be a problem?
